Alunah...

... merge elements of stoner, doom & psychedelic grooves with pagan and occult inspired lyrics and female vocals, they hail from the English Midlands and have spent the last five ears relentlessly touring and gigging with artists such as Paradise Lost, Trouble, Fu Manchu, Karma to Burn, Firebird, Roadsaw, Witchcraft, Graveyard, Orange Goblin, Doomraiser, Black Spiders, Lord Vicar and Nebula. In 2008 and 2009 respectively Alunah released their "Fall to Earth" EP and "Song of the Sun" 7" vinyl split with Hong Kong's Queen Elephantine. The "Fall to Earth" EP was later released on 10" vinyl by German psych label Nasoni Records.

Alunah unveiled their debut album "Call of Avernus" through Catacomb Records in 2010, the album which was recorded and mixed by Greg Chandler (Serpentcult/Moss) and mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate/Sunno/Earth) received rave reviews in the press, some of which can be read here.

In 2011 Alunah signed with Psychedoomelic Records; an Austrian label dedicated to doom metal (Ramesses, Pale Divine, Penance, Orodruin, Voodoo Shock, Wall of Sleep). PsycheDOOMelic will release their second album number in 2012.

The band consists of Soph Day, Dave Day, Gaz Imber and Jake Mason.

Soph Day

Picture
Sophie sings and plays guitar, her vocals "enter the fray for the first time and they’re like a vapor swirling all around you…it’s impossible to know which direction they’re coming from as they envelope you like a mist" (Heavy Planet).

Dave Day

Picture
Dave plays guitar and "has a way with a riff that is simplistic yet highly effective. He doesn't feel compelled to show off his shredding skills preferring to opt for insistent and memorable sequences of fat as fuck chord work and wailing, old school pentatonic style solos" (Sleeping Shaman)

Gaz Imber

Picture
Gaz plays bass and "opens with a thunderous bass line evocative of Acid King's 'Heavy Load" (Doomantia)

Jake Mason

Picture
Jake plays drums he "makes enough noise to truly awaken the unholy spirits as the name of their album implies" (Heavy Planet).
