Being in a band can play havoc with your memory bank, so every year we do this Year in Review to remind ourselves of the amazing times we have had. We also do it to thank everyone who has supported us, it's not possible to thank everyone but we hope you realise how much we appreciate all of you.

This is our third year in review and last December "when we wrote our first Year in Review, we stated that 'in our 6 year history, this year has been our best', well we topped that this year!" Well, guess what? We topped it again. We recorded our third album "Awakening the Forest" which was our first for Napalm Records, we toured the UK in May / June and Europe in October, made our first music video, had amazing press support, played with some world class bands, visited new countries, met tonnes of amazing people, released and then sold out of our 2010 debut album "Call of Avernus" tape cassette, and signed re-release deals for "Call of Avernus" and "White Hoarhound". We would like to thank everyone who came to our gigs, bought something with our name on it, wrote about us, and told their friends about us. Thanks to these people in particular for the dedication and support given to us this year (and some, since the beginning!), if we've missed anyone we're really sorry, it's impossible to thank everyone:

Sebastian, Mona, Andy, Daniel and Moni at Napalm Records, Matte, Beth, David, Kat and Sylvain at Sound of Liberation, Nathan & Jae at Cosmic Tomb, Remi at PRC Music, Olivia Burr, Mez Dewsbury, Greg Chandler, Tony Reed, Jay Ackerman, Michael Cowell, Rhodri Thomas, Simon Matthews, George Sanderon, Dominic Sohor,  Elin Larsson, Edgar Livengood, Gazelle Amber Valentine, Billy Goate, Tony Gaskin, Peter Keevil, Johhny Zed, Paul Castles, Frank Schneider, Ed Barnard (get well soon!), Mick & Geraldine OFGB, Emma Billingham, Paul Billingham, Vic Taylor, Andy Smith, Sioux, Gudi, Jonay (DUDE!), Emma Sainsbury, Jon Anderson, Phil Smith, Jason Woodroffe, Andy Thorley, Naiko Franklin, Fiamma Fatale Tafur, Guido Isaza, Neil Hadden, Martin (Dom Overlord), Stuart Smith, Gina Smith, Alex Johnson, Jon Paul Davis, Emily Yardley, Pete Green, Chris Hatton, Tracey Hatton, Mike Jeffries, Heather Jeffries, Mel Bull, Gaf Evans, Glyn Evans, Bek Cross, Emma Wileman, Lee Wileman, Nick Flagg, Louisa Tam, Paul Evans, Sarah Latimer, Dave Booth, Rick Eaglestone, Julia Willett, Dave Mason, Barb Mason, Simon Burchmore and Glenys Burchmore.

Alunah to Release Call of Avernus and White Hoarhound Albums

30/10/2014

Alunah will be re-releasing their sold out debut album 'Call of Avernus' (2010) and their second album 'White Hoarhound' (2012) on CD via PRC Music Canada in 2015.
Alunah to Release Call of Avernus and White Hoarhound Albums
The sold out debut album, originally released by Catacomb Records in 2010, will be re-released on 7th April 2015 with new artwork (see photo on left - click to enlarge), designed by Alunah's Sophie Day and themed to reflect the lyrics.

The 'White Hoarhound' CD was originally released on the now defunct PsycheDOOMelic Records in 2012, on vinyl via Napalm Records in 2013 (now also sold out), and received rave reviews. The band sold out of copies during their recent European tour, and only a handful of copies remain in existence. The CD re-release will also have new artwork, and will be out in the latter part of 2015.
The guys who run PRC have been releasing music for over 20 years, and are not only passionate music fans, but experienced professionals. They originally contacted us regarding 'Call of Avernus' and after some lengthy conversations we knew they were the right company to work with. More recently PRC spoke to us about 'White Hoarhound', and as passionate Alunah fans who want to spread our music far and wide, we were very happy to agree to another re-release. This doesn't affect our album deal with Napalm Records regarding our new recordings going forward, but simply enriches the ever-growing Alunah tree
Sophie Day, Alunah
Both albums will have official in-store distribution via PRC's partners throughout USA, Canada and Brazil, and limited copies will also be available from the official Alunah store (worldwide postage). PRC will be releasing 'Call of Avernus' pre-order details shortly, and these orders will be shipped in advance. PRC Music have a wide range of metal titles available, including doom bands such as Among Gods, Ice Dragon, Clorange and Krownn.

Soundscape Magazine Alunah Review | Awakening The Forest

22/9/2014

Comments

When it comes to doom music, you’d arguably be forgiven if you were to expect slow and sluggish instrumentation with deep and gloomy harsh vocals, so when you come across something a little different, it makes for a refreshing listen – and that’s exactly what Alunah have accomplished with Awakening The Forest simply by utilising clean female vocals rather than the standard style of harsh male vocals.

The vocals are certainly a high point of the album. There’s this great innate gloominess to them and they lend themselves fantastically to the music; there’s no ‘gimmick’ to them and the way Sophie moves as one with the music is incredible. Highlights include Heavy Bough, which features a rather soulful and moving vocal performance atop of substantial guitar line, and Scourge And The Kiss, which has an absolutely fantastic rumbly bass line that gives the song a lot of meat and power.

However something that does need to be mentioned is that Awakening The Forest is nothing new instrumentally, which lets it down a tad. It does feel like it’s all been done before, which is disappointing because it does feel like Alunah are capable of better.

As a whole, Awakening The Forest is a strong and engaging album, and one definitely worthy of checking out, but it does need a little bit of fine-tuning here and there.

7/10

Loudwire Premieres New Alunah Video for "Heavy Bough"

16/9/2014

Comments

Here it is, we can finally share the video with you! Thanks to Loudwire for premiering it >>
If you need some quality psychedelic doom in your life, we suggest you look no further than merry ol’ England. The land that created Black Sabbath and Electric Wizard has also produced Alunah, who will release their third studio album, ‘Awakening the Forest,’ on Oct. 7, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere of a brand new track.

Since 2006, Alunah have trudged out doom psychedelia heavy on the groove. Led by frontwoman Soph Day, the Birmingham band is rounded off by guitarist Dave Day, bassist Dan Burchmore and drummer Jake Mason.
We’ve teamed up with the quartet to premiere the music video for ‘Heavy Bough,’ an addictive new track from ‘Awakening the Forest.’ The voice of Soph Day is hypnotic and carried along by a solid instrumental section reminiscent of classic Sabbath.

The video is captivating as well, depicting a hermit-like individual roaming through the woods searching for natural additions to a special potion. “Rhodri Thomas (director) and George D Sanderon (actor) took our vision, inspired by Soph’s lyrics and Michael Cowell’s artwork, and made the video into something magnificent,” Alunah explain. “Elvaston Castle was the perfect location, and we are extremely privileged to have been granted access to such beautiful buildings and grounds. We hope you enjoy it.” Check out the tripped-out clip for Alunah’s ‘Heavy Bough’ above! To pre-order Alunah’s third album, ‘Awakening the Forest,’ click here.

Heavy-Metal.De | Personal View with Soph from Alunah

12/9/2014

Comments

a) Who r the guys in the band - different characters?
I’m (Soph Day) the vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Dave (Day) is our lead guitarist, Dan (Burchmore) is our bassist and Jake (Mason) our drummer.

b) Your favorite bands / musicians
My favourite band is The Doors. I also love Big Brother and The Holding Company and Janis Joplin’s solo material, Hexvessel, Ahab, Jex Thoth, Nick Drake, BB King… all kinds of different things there.

c) What kinda music do u really hate?
I’m not a fan of power or symphonic metal.

d) Which records would u take to a lonely isle here u only have a cd player?
Portishead’s back catalogue, “The Giant” by Ahab, “Cheap Thrills” by Big Brother and The Holding Company, “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” by Black Sabbath, “Morrison Hotel” by The Doors and “No Holier Temple” by Hexvessel. I could go on and on…

e) What else would u need?
Family photographs, contact lenses, a guitar, paper and a pen. I’m vegetarian but I reckon I’ll have to learn to eat meat and fish too…

f) Funniest tour experience?
DeserFest Berlin was perhaps the best time we had on our last tour. We had quite an early slot, so spent the time afterwards drinking - some of us more than others. We spent the evening with members of various well known bands, spoiling the well behaved reputation we have built up haha.

g) Worst or most embaressing situations?
I think the worst involved a public toilet in a Polish hostel, and two men – one defecating in a shower, and the other masturbating into a urinal. As you can imagine, I made a hasty exit. Grim.

h) Best concert u´ve ever seen?
That’s a difficult one. I went to see The Doors twice when they reformed with Ian Astbury on vocals, and both times were amazing. I’ve seen Sabbath a few times, but their last Birmingham gig was incredible. Soundgarden at Download Festival is also up there with one of my favourite gigs. The Kyuss reform gig was also amazing. However, I’m generally not a fan of big gigs, some of the best gigs I’ve attended was in pubs back in the late ‘90s, early ‘00s when I first got into this type of music - watching Mastodon, High on Fire, Orange Goblin, Sixty Watt Shaman, Spiritual Beggars, Nebula, Truckfighters, Brant Bjork etc in tiny rooms was awesome.

i) Best newcomerband?
I’m not really aware of many new bands that are coming up, but our friends’ new band Ki are very cool, some of the guys used to be in Moghul. Also, they’re not really a new band but I really enjoyed Monolith Cult’s debut album “Run from the Light”.

j) Nicest holiday?
My honeymoon in New Orleans and Memphis was easily the best and coolest holiday I’ve ever been on.

k) Happy about...
My life at the moment. I have a great husband and family, brilliant friends, a job I enjoy, a band I’m loving being in and generally having great experiences.

l) Disappointed about...
I’m not really disappointed in anything, but I wish my dad could be here so he could hear the new album and share the experiences with me. He passed away just after “White Hoarhound”, so he got to hear that album.

m) Where did u grow up?
Brownhills, West Midlands, England – 12 miles North of Birmingham.

n) Favorite food?
I absolutely love Indian and Moroccan dishes.

o) Can u cook?
Yeah, I love cooking. I cook a lot of dishes from scratch, and like experimenting with different cuisines. I’m vegetarian but I don’t mind cooking meat for people.

p) Your idols, influences?
My parents and nan are my idols. They brought me up well, and gave me lots of amazing opportunities.

q) How was school?
I loved school, without it I wouldn’t have been able to go to university – which were some of the best days of my life.

r) Still have “normal” jobs?
Yes, we all work full time alongside the band.

s) What are the most important things in life?
My family, friends and dog are the most important things in my life. Alunah is also very important to me, as it allows a creative outlet and a break from the mundane. Getting the balance right between family/friends and the band is also important.

t) Would u be a good politician?
No, neither would I want to be.

u) Any bad habits?
I tend to talk over people too much, rather than listen to their full sentence. I’ve noticed it since doing video interviews, so I consciously try to avoid this now.

v) Does your family support your musical success?
Yes, they’re great. All of our parents and siblings attend our gigs, Jake’s parents are perhaps our biggest fans.

w) Do u believe in god?
I don’t believe in the heavenly god, but I do believe there’s something else - I haven’t figured out what it is yet though. I have an A-Level in religious studies where my main subjects were Buddhism and Old Testament. I’ve read various Pagan, Christian, Satanic and Buddhist texts in depth - religion interests me, but I’m not someone who practices anything, or attends church.

x) In what else do u believe?
I believe in the power and beauty of nature, and I believe in myself. You can’t really deny either of those.

y) What is most important 4 u?
Family, friends, my dog and my band. If I have those, I’m happy.

z) Last statement?
Thank you to everyone who has supported Alunah, I hope you enjoy the new album. Remember, we are merely hairs on the bollock of the world!

The Obelisk Premieres "Heavy Bough" by Alunah

28/8/2014

Comments

The Obelisk have always supported Alunah, and for that reason we're glad that Napalm Records chose them to premiere our video track "Heavy Bough". JJ also wrote some very kind words about the album (below).

The video is coming very soon, but in the meantime you can listen to it here >>

"I don’t mind telling you I’ve been waiting for Alunah‘s new album for what feels like I really long time. The reality of the situation is that the Birmingham four-piece’s third offering and Napalm Records debut, Awakening the Forest, arrives just two years after their previous full-length, White Hoarhound, but as I’ve continued to enjoy that record since first hearing it, my affection for it only growing with the passing months, it seems much longer. I’m not sure what my ideal follow-up to White Hoarhound would’ve sounded like - or, more to the point, I can’t think of a way in which Awakening the Forest isn’t it.

For those who, like me, were fans of the last one or of 2010′s Call of Avernus before that, the riffs of Dave and Soph Day retain their bounce, and new bassist Dan Burchmore falls in step thickly with drummer Jake Mason to craft a lumbering but still nod-ready groove. At the same time, there’s clear progression evident. The band is more patient, the pieces that make up the memorable six songs more languid. In general, they sound like they’ve been working since White Hoarhound came out, which of course is precisely the case whether one thinks in the sense of getting on the road for shows or bringing in Burchmore and solidifying their lineup. Alunah come across as more comfortable with their psychedelic side - fitting for their consistently pastoral thematic - but Awakening the Forest presents some of their most doomed material as well.

To wit, the rollout of “Heavy Bough.” At just under six minutes, it’s among the shortest songs on Awakening the Forest (only “The Mask of Herne” is shorter, and by five seconds), and marked out by the lead and rhythm interplay of Soph and Dave‘s guitars as well as Soph‘s riff-riding verse and more open chorus. On an album full of hooks, “Heavy Bough” stands out for its nature worship and for its still-grounded take, sandwiched between the more ethereal opener “Bricket Wood Coven” and the side A finale title-track, but if it’s the first you’re hearing of the album, then its primary function will be to remind of just how easily an Alunah track can get stuck in your head. If this is your first experience with the band, all the better you’ve found them at this moment."

Alunah's 2013 in Review

24/12/2013

Comments

Last Christmas Eve when we wrote our first Year in Review, we stated that "in our 6 year history, this year has been our best", well we topped that this year! We played over in Europe for the the first time, released our first 12" Record, signed a worldwide album deal with Napalm Records, gained a new bass player and played with some of our favourite bands such as Saint Vitus, High on Fire and The Sword. We can't thank everyone who made this year awesome, but we truly appreciate everyone who came to a gig, bought merch and supported us!

The year wouldn't have been what it was without the input from the following people, most of whom we said thanks to last year; they continue to be the best people to have on your side!

Gareth Imber: Gaz left Alunah this year to concentrate on his other band, but we can't write this without thanking him. We spent 4 years with Gaz, and wrote and recorded 2 albums with him. We wish him all the best for the future!

Dan Burchmore: Dan joined us earlier in the year, he's an awesome bassist and a top bloke! He learnt our songs straight away, spent his first Alunah gig supporting Karma to Burn, and immediately got stuck in writing songs for our forthcoming album! We're excited about our future with Dan, and Napalm Records.

Sebastian Muench and the team at Napalm Records / Spinning Goblin Productions: Napalm released White Hoarhound on 12" vinyl back in January. We entered talks with them a few months ago regarding a long-term partnership, and at the beginning of December we signed a worldwide contract. News of the deal can be read here >>

Matte and the team at Sound of Liberation: We also partnered up with European booking agency SOL this year, and embarked on a 10 date European tour taking in France, Germany, Poland and Denmark. We are currently making plans regarding our 2014 tour.

Olivia Burr: Liv tirelessly sells our merch for us, provides transport when needed and handles all management queries for us! We couldn't do what we do without her!

Mez Dewsbury at OHMZ Sound Services: Mez accompanies us on the road, providing sound and technical services. He also promotes local stoner/doom gigs at Scruffy Murphys as part of his promotions company Heretic Promotions. Awesome bloke, professional and a top laugh!

Mona Miluski at Platinum PR: We came on board with German company Platinum PR to help promote White Hoarhound, and they have gone above and beyond to get us some amazing international press. They continue to be awesome!

Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios: Greg recorded both of our albums, he totally gets us, and is an easy creative guy to work with. He pulled out all of the stops to deliver some brilliant sounding demos recently, and has given us great advice regarding the legal side of the music industry. We will be working with him on our 3rd album also.

We must also mention the following bands, promoters, radio shows, webzines and podcasts who we've done stuff with in 2013. Again, in no particular order and sorry to those we've missed:

High on Fire, The Sword, Lonely Kamel, Saint Vitus, Ufomammut, Kadaver, Orchid, Gentleman's Pistols, Mos Generator, Fatso Jetson, The Wounded Kings, Samsara Blues Experiment, Witchsorrow, Conan, Black Moth, Black Star Riders, Skindred, Black Spiders, GOLD, Slow Worm, Jex Thoth, Moghul, Mage, Temple of Lies, Diesel King, Eldorado, Grifter, Greenhorn, The Albion Codex, Trippy Wicked, Hannah Rachel McCaul, Karma to Burn, Desert Storm, Stubb, Huata, Belzebong, Dopelord, Stoneache, The Skeletons, Cultura Tres, Prosperina, Heavy on The Ride, DesertFest Berlin, Heavy Days in Doom Town, French Metal Webzine, O2 Academy, Scruffy Murphys, Kerrang Magazine, I Did The Booking, Paranoid Hitsophrenic, Midlands Rocks, Contact FM, Rocking The Midlands, Doomsmoker.pl, Evil Wizard Promotions, Castle Cases, Vein-Tap.Com, Stoned Gatherings, Black Bullet Live, Terrorizer Magazine, Metal Mouth, Destruction Music, The Sleeping Shaman, Doommantia, The Obelisk, Cosmic Tomb, Temple of Perdition (R.I.P - thanks for everything!), The Sludgelord, Uberrock, Repulsive Revolutions, Stonerhead Let Groove Your Brains Tonight, Stonerrock.eu, The Paranoid Music Blog, Blabbermouth, Moonlight666.com, Hard Rock Hell, Native Ground, Metal as Religion, Brett Devey Photography, Zero Tolerance Magazine, Doommantia, Michael Cowell, DesertScene, Rock Regeneration, Doomed and Stoned, The Morsel, Get Ready to Rock, Get Your Rock Out, TBFM Radio, Planet Mosh and Eyes From The Mosh Pit.

In 2014 we will release our third album, re-release Call of Avernus on tape cassette, play various festivals, play with Grand Magus, tour Europe and the UK and hopefully meet a load more awesome people! Here's to a happy new year, these were our most viewed blog posts and images of 2013...

Alunah Sign With Napalm Records
We are over the moon to announce that we have signed a worldwide album deal with Napalm Records / Spinning Goblin. We worked with them previously on a limited vinyl release, and after demo-ing some new tracks entered talks with them regarding a full worldwide recording and publishing contract.
Alunah Sign With Napalm Records
Napalm Records will release a limited edition digi-pack and gatefold LP; and Michael Cowell will illustrate the full packaging.
"Alunah are incredibly happy to have signed a worldwide album deal with the world renowned label Napalm Records. We already have a strong working relationship from when they released a vinyl version of our second album "White Hoarhound", and we are proud to have been asked to join the Napalm family on a more long-term basis. We have a hard working ethic, are constantly evolving and appreciate everything given to us. We are joining a roster which boasts some of the best bands in the industry, and we're confident that this new phase in our relationship is a mutually beneficial one." - Sophie Day
We will be working once again with Sound of Liberation regarding our 2014 European tour, and will be embarking on a UK tour in May/June. Keep your eyes open for further release news.

Today our Napalm Records / Spinning Goblin Productions released 12" vinyl is officially released! Most of our white copies have now sold out but we do have a few copies left. They can be purchased from our store, and also from Napalm Records themselves. Today we have a couple pieces of good news, and following on from our news earlier this week regarding our High on Fire support, we'd say this week has been pretty awesome! Firstly, we'll be playing our first date outside of England on Sunday 31st March in Paris, more info can be found on our gig page.
Alunah DesertFest
Alunah to play DesertFest Berlin 2013

Our second piece of news is one we're so excited about as we've been confirmed to play DesertFest Berlin. The Sword, Lonely Kamel & Alunah @ The Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton - Review by Rocking The Midlands

8/1/2013

Comments

Thanks to Andy at Rocking The Midlands for his review of our gig with The Sword and Lonely Kamel on Sunday 6th January 2013.

We first clapped eyes on Alunah not far off two years ago. Since then they have released the “White Hoarhound” record and are developing very nicely. Opening at an early time tonight the crowd is a little thin, but the local stoner mob have a nice line in slow, Sabbathy tunes. The title track of the new album is perhaps the highlight of a set that not even the loss of vocals halfway through and frontwoman Sophie struggling with a sore throat can spoil too much. Here is a Brummie band playing traditional Brummie metal and doing it well.

Lonely Kamel were a new one on us. Not really surprising considering that it was, according to frontman Thomas Brenna, their first time on these shores. They Norwegian’s bill themselves as “Blues Boozers” and although they are broadly – like the rest of this bill – a stoner outfit, they are one in the same vein as RTM faves Stone Axe. Rather than Sabbath, they take their cue from classic rock bands like Thin Lizzy. It also helps that they give the appearance that they live in a van.

Their sound is built around the superb guitar work of Brenna and lead axeman Lukas Paulsen and such is the fun they are having in their 45 minute set they carry the audience with them. “Rotten Seed” and “Blues For The Dead” have an instant appeal, but really, the whole thing was a copper-bottomed triumph. One of their songs is called “Roadtrip with Lucifer” for goodness sake, how does it get better than that? Our new favourite band to bore everyone about – bet your last pound on it.

Austin, Texas foursome The Sword have plenty to look forward to right now. Tonight is the first show on their European tour and this is not just any tour either. It is one to celebrate the majestic “Apocryphon” record and happily they play most of it during their frequently brilliant set.

It is with the album’s title track that they kick us off this evening, before moving us right back to their debut record “Age of Winters” for “Freya.” Indeed it is a well structured show which sees the song “How Heavy This Axe” from the second and the fourth “Tres Brujas” being from 2010’s “Warp Riders.”

“….Brujas” neatly sums up the band. It’s verses about “the sacred smoke” wrapped up in an extremely catchy and tight track. It is a style that the “Apocryphon” album has built on superbly and its second track “Cloak Of Feathers” sounds incredible in this setting as does set closer “Veil of Isis.”

There is a time for an encore of “Winters Wolves” with frontman John D Cronise explaining it was the only choice for a gig in a place called Wolverhampton. At its end you are left to reflect on the jaw-dropping power of the group.

There is nothing remotely flashy or gimmicky about The Sword, indeed, if they suffer from one flaw it is a slight lack of charisma. They are a group, though, that rather like obvious brothers in arms Red Fang and Mastodon, prefer to let the music do the talking. It didn’t so much talk tonight as shout very loudly.

A quite superb way to start 2013.

Alunah's Year in Review, Thanks to All Involved!

24/12/2012

Comments

2012! It's safe to say that in our 6 year history, this year has been our best! We released our second album, worked with some amazing people, played some great gigs, met new awesome people, caught the eye of Napalm Records and made a few end of year lists (read whose here). From a music point of view it's been our best, but we also suffered the loss of Soph's Dad John who was a big supporter of Alunah, we dedicated our upcoming vinyl to him and he will always be in our thoughts.

The year wouldn't have been what it was without the input from the following great key people, in no particular order:

Mark Hegadus at Psychedoomelic Records: He believed in us enough to release White Hoarhound on his legendary Austrian label. One of THE best things we've done.

Sebastian Muench and the whole team at Napalm Records / Spinning Goblin Productions: They will be releasing White Hoarhound on 12" vinyl on January 25th 2013, so proud to be on yet another legendary Austrian label.

Olivia Burr: Liv tirelessly sells our merch for us, provides transport when needed and handles all management queries for us!

Mona Miluski at Platinum PR: We came on board with German company Platinum PR to help promote White Hoarhound, and they have gone above and beyond to get us some amazing international press.

Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios: Greg recorded both of our albums, and did a sterling job on both. He totally gets us, and is an easy creative guy to work with.

Tony Reed at Heavy Head Co: Tony mixed, mastered and featured on White Hoarhound. He also re-mastered the album for vinyl, a top bloke with unlimited amounts of talent.

Mez at Heretic Promotions / Scruffy Murphys, Birmingham: Mez is our number 1 promoter of choice to work with, complete professional and all round good guy. His promotions company hosted our album launch gig this year. Mez now also comes out with us doing our sound engineering.

Alison Richards and Martin Newman at Oath Communications: An awesome duo who are working on a video for White Hoarhound as well as attending the majority of our gigs in 2012 filming and taking photos.

We must also mention the following bands, promoters, radio shows, webzines and podcasts who we've played with / for. Again, in no particular order and sorry to those we've missed:

A Pale Horse Named Death, Gentlemans Pistols, Trippy Wicked and the Cosmic Children of the Knight, Gurt, Stubb, Arkham Witch, General, Desert Storm, Conan, Gods of Hellfire, Steak, Stone Axe, Arke, Ironrat, Gringo, Shebrew, Caravan of Whores, A Million Miles, Tairrie B and My Ruin, Baron Greenback, Desert Scene, Desert Fest, Heretic Promotions, Black Bullet Live, When Planets Collide, Kerrang Radio, Johnny Doom, Metal.de, Ripple Music, Metal Hammer Germany, Grip of Delusion Radio, Terrorizer Magazine, Soggy Bog, Core of Destruction Radio, 339 Metal, Doomantia, The Soda Shop, Fast 'n' Bulbous, 411 Mania, The Temple of Perdition, The Metal Observer, Via Nocturna, Unhallowed Nation, Planet Mosh, Skrikzine, Nocturnal Hall Magazine, Sludgelord, Sleeping Shaman, X Transmission FM, WCNI Radio, Femme Metal Webzine, The Obelisk, Black Sunday Magazine, MSN Entertainment, Metal Riot...

There are so many more, but not enough hours in the day to list them alll! Thanks to everyone basically, and special thanks to those who came to our gigs, brought our merch, brought us beer and shared our drunken ramblings!

In 2013 we will release our vinyl, carry on writing for our third album, play with The Sword, Lonely Kamel and Black Moth, tour Europe including Heavy Days in Doom Town Festival in Denmark, and hopefully meet a load more awesome people! Here's to a happy new year, these were our most viewed blog posts and images of 2012...

Alunah are proud to announce that they have signed a deal with Napalm Records / Spinning Goblin Productions! The legendary Austrian label, home to Karma to Burn, The Sword, Candlemass, The Answer, Brant Bjork and Monster Magnet just to name a few, will be re-releasing their second album “White Hoarhound” on 12” vinyl mid January.
The limited edition 12” vinyl gatefold  will be available in two colours – white and transparent green. The tracks have been remastered for vinyl by Tony Reed and will sound warmer and heavier than ever! The gatefold also features new artwork.

Sophie Day, singer and guitarist commented about the band’s new deal “Alunah are extremely happy to be joining the Napalm Records / Spinning Goblin Productions family with the upcoming vinyl release of our current album. We’re sitting amongst some amazing bands and the label really understand what we’re about, 2013 looks set to be a great year for us”. Sophie also said this about Alunah's PR company "Platinum PR have done a great job in getting us coverage in the European press, we really hope that we can expand on that coverage with this release and subsequently, our tour".

Alunah will be touring Europe in 2013 to support the vinyl release, as for remaining 2012 dates, they will be playing with Gentlemans Pistols on Friday November 16th in their home city of Birmingham, England and with Gods of Hellfire and Arkham Witch in Bradford on Saturday 10th November. They will also be working with Oath Communications to film and produce a new video to accompany the track “White Hoarhound”.
